I Love CheeseCake

Recommended by my friend. I ordered from them today. Love the packaging and they taste so good. Much better that any mini cheese cakes I tried from other places in Kuwait. The cheese is so soft and tastes so yum.

There are two types of orders:

  • 25 Small Cups: KD 5
  • 12 Big Cups: KD 8

They come in 7 flavors and they all taste yum . My favorites were caramel and strawberry.

What I love is that you can have different flavors in your order, you are not limited to one only. I ordered the small ones as they were not many of us to eat plus I wanted to taste all the flavors. They came with small plastic spoons. But I recommend ordering the big cups. I would have enjoyed the taste more with a bigger portion. My friend also mentioned that the big cups come with fresh fruit toppings. She had yummy fresh strawberries with hers.

Highly recommended. Two thumbs up.

Pump Up Your NESPRESSO Drinks

I’ve had this machine for a year now. It never fails with its yummylicious lattes and cappuccinos. here are some products I use to pump up my NESPRESSO coffee drink once in a while. When I really want to indulge!

You will never drive your car to buy coffee ever again.

STARBUCKS Vanilla Flavor Syrup: This vanilla syrup is the base for Starbuck caramel macchiato. Add 1 or 2 shots in your NESPRESSO latte. You can get this vanilla syrup at any STARBUCKS branch in Kuwait for KD 3. There are other flavors available too, but I liked vanilla the most.

HERSHEY’S Genuine Chocolate Syrup: Drizzle this rich chocolate syrup on your NESPRESSO cappuccino. It suppresses my cravings for the Mocha Deluxe drink from The One Cafe. You will find Hershey’s chocolate sauce at most co-ops.

MONIN Caramel Sauce: If you love caramel, drizzle this yummy sauce on your NESPRESSO cappuccino drinks. Use it along with the STARBUCKS Vanilla Flavor Syrup to create your own Caramel Macchiato. You can find MONIN products in Sultan Center.

M&S Belgian Chocolate Stirrers: These heavenly chocolate stirrers melt right in your drink and your mouth. I love their taste and texture after I dip them in my NESPRESSO cappuccino or latte. You can dip and eat them along with your drink,  or you can have them completely melt for a chocolate kick in your coffee.

So Craving It These Days!

The Dubai Branch of California Pizza Kitchen has the yummiest cheeseburger pizza I ever tasted (Mind you, it’s the only cheeseburger pizza I ever tasted!) But it is so good. With the avocado topping, I am officially in pizza heaven. Not to mention that this pizza, along with the theatrical release of “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” in Dubai, is the reason my friend and I decided to go to Dubai in the morning and return back in the evening last July. Of course this did not happen. Jazeera Airways had “delayed” their 8:20pm flight 10 hours, to fly at 6:15am next day!

They say “Delayed”. I say “rescheduled”.

Thank god for Dubai International Airport Hotel, located above the duty free shops. Hotel was amazing. Flight was not.

Anyway, back to the pizza.

The Cheeseburger Pizza is not to be missed. If you happen to be in Dubai, try it out at the California Pizza Kitchen in Dubai Mall.

My Battle with Lifestyle Change

I always had this ultimate dream of having a complete lifestyle change in the way I eat. I want to have a healthy breakfast, healthy lunch, healthy dinner, and 2-3 snacks a day.

My approach to accomplish this is to a do a gradual change of the way I eat. One meal at a time.

I started with my breakfast. And I succeeded. It’s been like one year now for me to have the following breakfast everyday:

  • 2 brown toast (140 calories)
  • Zaatar (0 calories)
  • 2 small Pinar labneh (50 calories)
  • 1 cup of fresh milk (half & half) with coffee and Splenda sweetner. (120 calories). If at work, I have french coffee with Splenda also.

Total = 310 calories

The only times I skip this is when I have breakfast at a restaurant, which is like once a month. Sometimes if I want to indulge on the weekend, I have the following with my Coffee:

  • 2 Brown Toast (140 calories)
  • 1 scrambled egg, no oil (90 calories)
  • 1 slice of cheese (50 calories)

Total = 280 calories

But the problem comes next. I can’t seem to change the way I eat my lunch. Having an 8-4 job makes it very difficult to have a healthy lunch. I try sometimes to prepare a sandwich the night before, but this lasts like a couple of days. I then go back to either having a lunch break with a friend at a nearby restaurant, or starving myself until 5 pm until I reach home and want to eat everything in sight.

I always think that I if I had a less stressful job, I would be able to eat healthier. Yet I refuse to accept this as an excuse. I believe if I made it a habit to have a healthy breakfast, I can make it a habit to have a healthy lunch, and ultimately a healthy dinner.

I would love to hear suggestions from you, healthy people, on what you prepare/bring for your lunch at work (Unhealthy people please stand behind me in the line :) )

I want to reach a stage when I don’t think twice on what to have for lunch.

Just like my breakfast.

A habit.

The Making of Omani Halwa at Fereej Swaileh

Last week we deicded to head to Fereej Suwaileh for an after work lunch/dinner. We always order home delivery, but this was my first time visiting the restaurant, which deserves a post on its own by the way.

Of course if you haven’t tried Fereej Swaileh food yet, you immediately should. It is the “It” place for traditional Kuwaiti dishes.

Anyway, I was surprised to see that they had their own traditional Kuwaiti/Gulf dessert shop inside the restaurant. All kinds of rahash, darabeel, halwa, and cakes. What is really interesting to know is that they make their own Omani Halwa. I managed to capture the short video above of the process. The pot reminded me of “Sharshabeel/Gargamel” pot in the “Sanafer/Smurfs”!

My friend got the rahash with biscuits dessert. If you love Rahash, the taste is out of this world!

Fereej Swaileh restaurant is located in Salmiay, Salem Al-Mubarak street, next to Marks & Spencer, 1st floor. Their contact number is 2575-5991

LoLo Sweets

Yesterday I passed by “Shababna Awla Expo” in Al-Raya ball room, an exhibition organized by University students. A huge part of the exibition was dedicated to sweets, cup cakes, and desserts. However, all of the booths did not offer any tasting of the products they sell. You have to buy blindly.

Except for one booth…

The name is LoLo Sweets.

You will know why they offer tasting once you actually taste it. They have that much confidence in their product.

I got a taste of their signature “LoLo Fondue” cake. I don’t know how to describe the yummy, light, milky, chocolatey, scrumptious taste. The chocolate fondue was hot, light, and tasted amazing. The owner said that this signature cake is what started the whole business.

The table was filled with Cheese cakes, pumpkin cakes, black bottoms,  toffee cakes, and other. What I loved is how they made a small portion of all the big cakes they have.

All the sweets are home cooked and they have home delivery. I grabbed the menu. The owner said that alot of what is offered in the exhibition is not updated in their menu. But you can always call and check what they have. I grabbed 2 cups of the LoLo Fondue, 1 cup of the Pumpkin with orange mixed cream, a small nicely wrapped piece of the pumpkin cake, and 4 pieces of the toffee small cakes.

Reasonably priced. Great taste. Sweet lady. Must have!

This is a snap shot of their menu and delivery number.

Today is the last day for the exhibition and it will be from 3pm-10pm.

STARBUCKS Nuzha

I was driving in Nuzha and stopped my car to take a shot of this Starbucks branch that finally seems to be coming to a complete finish. This branch have been up for months now with no progress and we always wondered when it will be completed and open for public.

If you take a closer look at the place now, the only thing missing would be the food and coffee. Everything else is up, even the tea bag boxes are stacked on top of each other in a pyramid shape, ready to be sold.

I expect the branch to open in very few days.

Hana’s Birthday Cake

As my friend is just like the rest of our gang, madly in love with London, I decided to get her a London Themed cake for her birthday. I called Crumbs and spoke to lovely Arwa Al Turkait for the arrangement, and this is the result :)

12 Cup Cakes with four different flavours of Toffee, Red Velvet, Chocolate, and Vanilla. I requested that the 8 themed cup cakes carry the following (from top left corner):

  • London black taxi cab
  • London underground sign
  • Selfridges shopping bag
  • UK flag
  • Harrods shopping bag
  • Umbrella with rain (there was some clear glaze drops all over the cake)
  • London red bus
  • Big Ben

We just loved it! When I took it over to my friend’s house she was so impressed that she did not allow any of us to touch it for like half an hour!

This is not for us to eat! You can just look at it and take pictures!

She kept saying …

We were laughing so hard as she really had trouble eating the cup cakes and messing up the design! We ended up sharing four cup cakes to try all the flavours. The only two london themed ones we tried were the Umbrella and Selfridges shopping bag, of course after removing the little art pieces and placing them on other cup cakes! My favourite were the red velvet and vanilla.

It was a blast. Crumbs did a wonderful job.
