My friend just came back from London and she told me that the HMV store located at Oxford Street has shut down!
If you are a frequent visitor to London, you would know that the Oxford HMV store is considered more of a landmark/attraction point in the famous shopping street. You can’t be walking there and not visit the store and check out the great deals and bundles they have on famous sitcoms, TV shows, and movies.
It’s still unknown what will replace the store in that location. I just can’t imagine walking down Oxford and not seeing HMV there!
On a different note, it seems to me that the evolution of streamed TV and the digital media technology in general have had a huge effect on the other types of media that we have always lived with.
A few weeks ago Borders, the famous bookshop, has filed for bankruptcy. And now HMV closes down one of its most strategically located stores in London.
A new era is approaching at the speed of light.
Update:
The location leasehold was sold to Forever 21. Link
